Danes has been roasting specialty coffee since 1994

Coffee mavericks since day one

In the 90s, we carved our own path as the most adventurous coffee roasters Australia has known.

Exploring new horizons, we paved the way for specialty coffee before the term “specialty coffee” existed in Australia.

While our hospitality landscape continues to be challenged, our accomplished and experienced team offer a fresh adaptive approach to your cafe. We’re always unearthing exciting new flavours for you to experience at home, in your office or at a Danes café.

The most awarded coffee roasters in Australia

Fast forward to today, and we’re Australia’s most awarded coffee roaster. In 2018 and 2019 we won Champion Australian Roaster at the Australian International Coffee Awards (AICA). In 2020, we took home a record 20 medals across all brewing categories at AICA. After a break in competition in 2021, 2022 brought further gold medal success.

It totals a record haul of 85 gold, silver and bronze medals in recent years, winning Gold in all categories including Milk BlendsFilterEspresso BlendsSingle Origin and Cold Brew.

In 2024, we celebrate 30 years of roasting and retailing specialty coffee and more than 25 years of teaching baristas and coffee lovers worldwide how to brew flavour-filled coffee.

Success comes through sustainability. That means solar panels to completely power our roastery, recycling chaff and being part of the Simply Cups program. Good coffee, made simple

Coffee should be easy to make and a delight to drink.

We want to show you how coffee flavour can vary through the expression of sweetness, aroma, body and finish – to help you define your favourite flavour.

You can use the flavour pentagon on each bag of our coffee to quickly get an idea of how each roast will taste. And our Chocolates and Caramels, Nuts and Spices, and Fruits and Berries percentage pentagons can quickly identify each coffee’s flavour tribe.

    Paul Jackson acquired Danbrew, igniting the legacy of Danes Coffee Roasters as we began supplying premium coffee to offices around Sydney.

    We opened our first specialty coffee house, offering over twenty unique coffees and setting a high standard for quality.
